Whether you are planning your trip to Riverport or already settling into your cabin, we’ve gathered answers to our most common guest inquiries below to help make your stay effortless.

Need assistance before or during your stay?

If you have a question that isn't answered here, feel free to reach out directly through our Connect Page or contact our property manager at 902-521-4256 (Available Daily, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM). For emergency assistance after hours, message 905-971-7702.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 4:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

‍

Can I request a late check-out?

Yes, please inquire about late check-out availability. If we are able to accommodate your request, we certainly will!

Are daytime visitors allowed?

Yes, visitors are welcome! However, non-guests may not stay overnight, and minors may only visit if they are registered guests.

Are the cabins equipped for cooking?

Yes, your kitchenette is fully equipped with a stovetop, oven, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, and toaster. You will also have access to a private outdoor BBQ.

Is the tap water safe to drink?

Yes, our taps provide delicious, pure well water.

‍

Do all cabins have hot tubs?

Currently each cabin except The View and the Yellow House feature a private outdoor hot tub that will be turned on and ready for your enjoyment upon arrival. We provide cozy robes and special black hot tub towels for your convenience.

Is there Wi-Fi and cell service?

Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is available across the retreat. Each cabin also features a Smart TV so you can log into your own entertainment accounts.

How are the cabins heated and cooled?

Every cabin is equipped with a remote-controlled heat pump/AC unit and adjustable baseboard heaters. Additionally, Black Crow Lodge and The View feature indoor wood-burning stoves for extra warmth and ambiance.

Is Black Salt Retreat dog-friendly?

Dogs are welcome with advanced notice. A damage deposit is required prior to arrival, which is reimbursed within seven days of check-out upon a clean inspection.

What are the rules for bringing a dog?

We ask that dogs stay off the furniture and beds, and that they are never left outside unsupervised or indoors unattended unless crated. Please clean up after your pet using the provided waste bags.

Where is the nearest place to get groceries or coffee?

The Rose Bay General Store and Bistro is just a 5-minute drive away. It offers espresso, fresh pastries, locally sourced groceries, and an NSLC liquor store. For late-night needs, there is a 24-hour Irving gas station and convenience store about 12 minutes away in Lunenburg.

How close are you to Lunenburg?

We are located in Riverport, just a scenic 12-minute drive from the historic, UNESCO World Heritage site of Lunenburg, giving you easy access to world-class dining, coastal tours, and local shops.

What is your smoking policy?

There is strictly no smoking or vaping inside the cabins. All smoking and vaping must be done at least 5 metres away from any open door or window using the exterior ashtrays provided.

Are there quiet hours?

To ensure a peaceful coastal escape for all of our guests, quiet hours are observed from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

What happens in the event of a power outage?

While we cannot control Nova Scotia's weather or the power grid, every suite is equipped with a rechargeable lantern. If an outage lasts longer than 5 hours, we offer a refund of one half-day to affected guests.
