Finding your way


Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ)

Step-by-Step Driving Route

Leaving the Halifax International Airport

  • Exit the Airport: Follow the exit signs out of the terminal area onto Silver Dart Drive / Aerotech Drive and follow signs for Highway 102 South (toward Halifax).
  • Merge onto Highway 102 South: Stay on the 102 South for approximately 30 km (about 20 minutes) as you head toward the city outskirts.
  • Transition to the 103: Take Exit 4A to merge onto Highway 103 West toward Yarmouth / South Shore.
  • Stay on Highway 103 West: Remain on this highway for roughly 85 km. You will glide through the fully twinned sections past Hubbards before the road scales down to a well-maintained two-lane highway with passing zones.
  • Take Exit 11: Take Exit 11 (signs for Blockhouse / Lunenburg) and turn left off the ramp onto Route 324 South.
  • Drive to Lunenburg: Follow Route 324 South straight for about 10–12 km until it brings you to a T-junction on the edge of the historic town of Lunenburg.
  • Turn Right onto the Lighthouse Route: At the T-junction, turn right onto Route 3 West, and then immediately keep left to hop onto Route 332 West (signs for Riverport).
  • Arrival: Follow Route 332 West along the coast for about 12 to 15 minutes (~16 km). You will pass through Rose Bay and arrive directly into Riverport along Ritcey Cove, where Black Salt Retreat's Nordic cabins are located.

Pit Stop Recommendations

Exit 11 (Blockhouse) has quick gas and coffee options.
Lunenburg has a full Sobeys grocery store, NSLC, and local shops if you need to stock up on cabin supplies before checking in.


Driver's Note:

If you are driving this route around dusk or after dark, please slow down and keep a sharp eye out for deer. The South Shore,  especially coastal routes like Highway 332, is heavily populated with wildlife.
